DOT and Substance Abuse Professional Evaluations

We offer evaluations for the Department of Transportation from qualified Substance Abuse Professionals. Our SAPs help employees and employers to keep their workplaces safe by evaluating individuals who have committed a DOT level workplace violation offenses under the influence. As part of the regular DOT return-to-work process, offenders are required to be evaluated by a SAP before returning to work.

What Does a SAP Do?

A Substance Abuse Professional evaluates the offending employee and recommends a plan of action to treat or correct the condition that led to the alcohol or drug-related traffic offense. Typically, employees of the DOT who have committed such an offense must complete an education or intervention program recommended by a SAP before the employee can resume work.

The Alternatives, Inc. SAP will provide a report to the employer and employee indicating that recommendations have been met after the employer has completed the recommended work and the SAP has evaluated further.
